Despina and George were great hosts (having been at this hotel for 50 years), seeing to our needs and desires consistently. When they saw that the room we'd booked was really a little too small for our comfort, they upgraded us to a suite for only 5 euros extra per night. They were always forthcoming with helpful suggestions for the enjoyment of our stay on Naxos. The room cleaner, too, was very sweet and helpful, and took good care of us. The hotel overall has great charm in a traditional, quaint, old-fashioned way. And the price for our 7 days there was so much better than some of the more modern accommodations in Chora — we were even offered a 100 euro discount for paying in cash. Also, the location can't be beaten if one desires to explore the town of Chora, only a few blocks from the water (with rooms that overlook the ocean), right on the edge of the castle area, and close to the center of town, with a grocery, a restaurant and a car rental very close by, and all the restaurants and shops along the waterfront just a few blocks away. Hotel Apollon was a great find, and we look forward to staying there again; of course, we highly recommend it to anyone looking for an alternative to the more modern, expensive hotels.
I can't think of anything that we didn't like!
